about

Southland Times, 2 January 1901: During the forenoon of Thursday it really seemed as though the hand of fate was against the Caledonian Society; rain of all sorts fell at brief intervals, and that most unsatisfactory of expedients, a postponement, appeared inevitable. This, happily, was not resorted to, as about 12 o'clock the rain ceased, and though the sun did not penetrate the thick grey curtain of cloud, an immunity from moisture from above was enjoyed during the rest of the day. Music was there in abundance, a small army of pipers stirring Scottish hearts. The following are the results of the events: Bagpipe Music: pibrochs: A. Wilson, A. Cameron, Marches: Alex. Cameron, Strathspeys and Reels Thomas McKay, Alick Cameron.
